Advocacy Network
TPHA is in the
process of forming an Advocacy Network. This is an effort to
identify individuals within our membership who would like to be
more involved in TPHA and public health advocacy.
TPHA is building this network in order to
respond to Public Health issues in a timely manner. This
network will allow TPHA to quickly communicate information
needed to advocate for policies and programs which promote
public health or to defeat initiatives that threaten public
health and the environment. You may be asked from time to time
to write or call your state or federal representatives,
participate in a media event, work with other advocacy groups or
write a letter to the editor of your local paper.
Another important role for the TPHA
advocacy network is to advance public health through special
initiatives. TPHA is planning to begin special areas of
emphasis for local advocacy. Your involvement and leadership
in these special initiatives is very much needed. We are
planning to have a coordinated statewide effort.
Those interested in being a part of this
Advocacy Network are asked to complete the accompanying Advocacy
Network Form and return it to the TPHA Executive Office. If you
are not already a member of TPHA, you will also need to submit a
TPHA membership application form along with a check for the
annual dues.
