The Tennessee Department of Health has been awarded a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) BOLD grant to promote a strong public health approach to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. TDH is focused on educating Tennesseans about risks associated with dementia, the importance of early detection and diagnosis, and the impact dementia caregiving can have on the individual and communities. Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias is an increasing public health concern due to the costs associated with disease, the impact it has on healthcare systems, the increasing number of people impacted with the disease, and the ability to screen and intervene early in the disease process. The CDC in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association developed the Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) Roadmap to help drive public health departments’ actions to partner and address the growing burden of the disease.
